The First Post-Workshop Mentorship Program Was Conducted.
The post-workshop mentorship was held during three-month period from October 2017 to January 2018. Learning materials, homework and surveys were sent to all 32 participants of the One Health Workshop #2 - The Role of Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS)in the Ukrainian Biosurveillance System on a weekly bases. During the post-workshop program all participants had an unique opportunity to continue education and gain greater expertise from the international expert as well as unhindered communication via email and web-based video meetings through the regular facilitation of Black&Veatch/Metabiota professionals.
Based on the participants feedback and identified gaps in knowledge of understanding, developing and using Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) in routine work, the new focus training event The Role of SOPs in the Ukrainian Biosurveillance System were developed and conducted for all participants of QMS Workshops. Overall, 12 Train-the-Trainer candidates were identified based on SME trainers’ and Black&Veatch/Metabiota facilitators’ evaluations, and based on the results of post-training mentorship assignments. Among the proposed candidates the most suitable specialists from public health and veterinary medicine will be selected to success implement QMS into Ukrainian laboratories and support to laboratories trying to transfer over to ISO 15189.
What is Train-the-Trainer program? Train-The-Trainer (T3) is a professional learning process that seeks to identify participants who demonstrate excellent technical proficiency and the capacity to serve as a local training facilitator. Participants will be required to attend a T3 workshop, which includes advanced training and coaching on effective strategies for engaging adult learners, science communications and ethics, and targeted instruction and practice in training others to deliver a specific curriculum. T3 training facilitators will participate in regional training events outside of their home facility to build their capability as well as further develop the One Health network within Ukraine.
